Since 2007 Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) has been working with the local residents and Cheltenham Borough Council to develop plans for new homes in the St Pauls Community. Following an urban design exercise by Nash Partnerships, CBC granted planning permission for the first phase in December 2009.
Since May 2011, Wates Living Space has been on site turning the exciting designs proposed by Nash into new homes. The first homes are due for completion in August 2012 with construction being complete by the end of the year. The quality of the design of these homes is exceptional and many benefit from balconies and patio doors opening up the home to summer sunshine. Many of the homes provide elevated views of the town and the surrounding countryside.
All of the new homes are designed to a high standard of performance and will benefit from very good heat and sound insulation, offering comfortable living environments. Homes are spacious and have a high specification, including gas central heating, heat recovery from kitchen and bathroom ventilation, photovoltaic panels providing free electricity and reducing bills and good internal and external storage space.
The centre of the development features a new car-free public open space where the community can get together and children can play.
This first phase includes 30 new flats and houses for affordable rent and 18 flats and houses for shared ownership. A second phase is planned for construction in late 2013 to complete the investment committed to St Pauls.
To the north of the development lies the Cheltenham Leisure Centre and the extensive Pittville Park, providing local residents with key leisure and exercise facilities on their doorstep. The town centre is only 15 minutes away and supplements local shops.
The investment in new homes in Cheltenham has been matched with significant funding being made available for the retained homes in St Pauls and the benefits of this investment are evident in the surrounding area.
The new homes offer exceptional value for money and are expected to be in high demand, offering stylish living accommodation with affordable running costs at attractive sales values.
